Most of the BDSM videos out there tend to be targeted towards a male viewing audience. This is independent of the power dynamic or the role played by the male. The male dom/fem sub videos tend to be aggressive and verge on misogynistic.
There appears to be a complete lack of videos with a more emotional aspect to them. Something akin to my fiction.
Is there a desire for emotional/romantic BDSM videos?
Any thoughts and opinions?

Matthew,
I would love to have BDSM videos like the ones you have described. I am not looking for a lengthy prelude describing the dom and sub's romance before they get to the painful parts. I just want the scene to be punctuated with moments of affection. The dom soothes and comforts the sub, and the sub looks up at him with that glassy and wide-eyed look you often describe. But I am assuming (safely so) that even as something as simple as that would be taxing on the acting abilities of the typical pornography talent.
And you are right with your point about misogyny. I have not explored BDSM porn as extensively I have vanilla porn but plenty of the videos I've seen show a sub being pushed too hard to her limits or even beyond. Of course it is expected for pornography (whether vanilla or otherwise) to portray extreme fantasies that most people would not dare to realize... but I'm just tired of seeing it. I don't like it so I won't watch it, but there are little to no satisfactory alternatives for me.
If anyone knows of any studios or particular videos that convey a glimmer of romance, please post them! :D

Could be a business opportunity in these "hard" times. There is very little "romantic" porn out there, but there are some softer videos on the market, however they tend to be more F/f related. I happened across a few on www.manicpass.com, but as I said, I happened upon them.
Apparently, the porn that is out there is what the so called discerning public wants to see, and anything more or less is left, depending on one's point of view, to the novelists. A good idea might be to write suggestions to our hometown porn-mill, Kink.com and ask if they would consider trying something different to see if they get a response from their members. Afterall, Valentine's Day is approaching! Personally, I think that it is an untapped market.
